Let's Go Dancing!

Hello All!Sorry, I am not really taking everyone dancing. :-( But if you keep reading, you will see there is a point to my title. :-)I am taking Family and Couples Counseling over the summer. I was not extremely excited about this topic as I am interested in working with individuals one on one. When I feel this way about a subject, I usually take more away from it than I anticipated. Already in the first week, I can see this will be true with Family and Couples Counseling.I was looking over an…See More

Stress!!!! - Some different thoughts on how to handle it

I'm the kind of person that has to understand why I am doing something.  I don't work well off memorizing lists, for example.  My last first line supervisor called me "But, why?".  Anyway, my university posted a bit about stress management that caught my attention because it isn't the typical list of activities to engage in to reduce stress (go for a walk, listen to music, breathe deeply, etc.)  Instead, this offers a step by step approach that YOU can apply to YOUR unique situation.  So I…See More

Hello All! I finally exhausted my Montgomery GI Bill benefits this month!  Unfortunately, my career plan requires I get a Masters degree and I have two years left in my program... I remembered seeing something about education benefits possibly covering another 12 months (48 total), so I filed the paperwork for the post 9/11 GI Bill at the request of my school.  I was uneasy about how everything  worked, so I called the education benefits hotline and WOW!  I am glad I called.  Turns out I do…See More

About Me
I was on active duty for four years and in the National Guard for three years. I had some amazing times in the military and met some amazing people. I am really happy I can continue to meet and share with veterans through LSVA.

On a personal note: I am married and have two precious little boys. I am very focused on my education right now, as I pursue my M.S. in Mental Health Counseling.
