OEF/OIF Veterans Needed for a Study on Traumatic Events and Brain Responses Baylor College of Medicine is currently conducting a research study looking at social and emotional reactions in brain responses in OEF/OIF veterans who suffer from PTSD or symptoms of post-traumatic stress. To try to understand how deployment can impact the biology of the brain, we record MRI scans of the brain as participants play simple computer games in the scanner. Getting an MRI is standard, completely non-invasive and is not painful. Participants do get compensated for their time. We pay $15 per hour for talking about your experiences and answering questionnaires and $20 or more per game played in the fMRI scan. Also, participants will get a copy of their brain on CD the first time they come in for a scan. If you have been diagnosed with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) or have been experiencing any symptoms since your deployment, please contact Jessica Eiseman at 713.798.2222.
